German White Wheat malt is an ideal foundation grain for continental wheat beer styles like Hefeweizen and Kristallweizen, and an essential ingredient in North American wheat ales. It adds very little color to wort but contributes a robust, malty-sweet flavor with notes of bread, nuts, biscuit, toffee, and light caramel.

Wheat malts are high in protein, which helps produce fuller-bodied beers. Wheat malt can also improve head formation and retention, depending upon the other grist constituents. In top-fermented beers, German White Wheat malt performs especially well, adding creaminess, body, and complex wheat flavors.

    A very good and fresh wheat malt.

    I brewed a batch of tasty wheat beer with this and I ordered the grains uncrushed as I have a mill. The crushed grains were even and produced a fine mash with no sticking. While milling, there were one or two very hard chunks that bumped the mill but nothing serious. Gravity was higher than expected with increased mash efficiency. Fermentation was quite vigorous most likely due to the freshness of the malt. I was quite pleased with the results and will definitely order more of this the next time I make a wheat beer.
