Good design, poor execution
This stir plate is a solid design from the sturdy case to the simple but effective electronics used to control the motor. The problems I had was with the poor assembly. When the device arrived there was a screw loose in the box. I opened up the case to discover the screw belonged to the fastener used to hold down the transformer. While examining the internals I found that almost all the fastener were missing any means to keep from working loose over time which I had to rectify using star lock washers. I also found the power cord ground lug was not electrically secure to the case (not by UL standards), the top stir plate was loose, and the screw for the rubber feet could easily go through the rubber hole if tightened securely. The most aggravating issue was the case interior was not painted thoroughly to the point rust was developing in spots. I had to sand and repaint one whole side of the inside top cover where the L bracket was tack welded to the top cover, and a spot on the inside front panel where it was rusting under the paint. Yeah, I could have made a fuss, but the price was very good and the design solid to the point any repairs I made was well worth it. I just completed a yeast starter using this stir plate without any issues. Cheers!
